First off, I was specifically looking for a golf set from a major manufacture that was geared specifically for a senior golfer. I haven't played in a long time, and with arthritis in my back, knew I wouldn't have a big swing and a lot of speed. The Wilson Profile Senior was one of the best sets I looked at and Amazon had one of the best prices online. You will probably not find these clubs in any local store. I live in Southern California, and NONE of the shops, big or small, had them, even Wilson distributors. (Word to Wilson, you should be marketing these clubs more!) First, let me talk about the order and shipment. As usual, Amazon was better than their word as far as delivery. It was very quick, and very inexpensive. For a big package, and this is a very big box, it cost less than sending a DVD Priority Mail. And it was received in about the same amount of time. Bravo Amazon, and thank you. As for the clubs, they are very nice. The day I got them I went out to the driving range. Now, I hadn't swung a club in 15 years, so I expected to be pretty rusty. And I was at first. but within a short while I was hitting straight shots (was it the High MOI as advertised? Maybe.). One of the selling points of this senior set is it's 14 degree Driver. Everything I read online about picking senior clubs was saying to go with a higher lofted club 11.5-14 degrees. It is supposed to give us with slower swing speeds a better chance at a longer distance and more accurate drive. With my old Jack Nicklaus Persimmon Woods I almost never hit a driver, as it was the worst club to control. Heck, even for pros it's the worst club to control. But with the Wilson Profile 14 degree driver, I found that I had more control in just 1 practice session than I ever did with my original clubs. Very happy with this set of clubs. |
